Threads by Deb is a Minneapolis sewing business set up in 2020. Deb started sewing at 11 and has more than 50 years of experience.

What they do

Alterations and repairs for all ages, from babies to adults: hems, zips, mending, uniform patches, and bridal and formal wear including wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and bustles. Deb also makes home furnishings such as curtains, valances, cushions and chair covers, takes on small upholstery, toys and craft projects, and teaches sewing in person or online around a project you choose. Men's suits and large upholstery such as sofas and recliners are not taken on.

Before you visit

Prices are published: alterations and sewing are $45 an hour with a $20 minimum, and sewing lessons are $30 an hour. Bridal and formalwear (prom, bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride dresses) need a signed agreement and a $100 deposit, which comes off the final bill. Two fittings are included and extra fittings are $25 each. Work requested within 14 days of the event carries a $100 rush fee.

Keep the same shoes from your first fitting onwards, as a change of heel height can change the work. Payment is due on completion, by cash, cheque, Venmo, PayPal or tap to pay.
